A day at the Tibidabo amusement park

Tibidabo mountain is located in the Collserola mountain range and is arguably one of the city's most famous landmarks, thanks to its spectacular views and the fun offered by its amusement park.

The park is located next to the Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart. It is one of the oldest operating amusement parks in Europe (the third oldest) and the oldest in Spain. In 2021, it celebrated its 120th anniversary.

The main entrance to the park is right next to the Sacred Heart Church. The main plaza is where you'll find historical attractions like the Airplane, the Ferris Wheel, and the Watchtower, as well as rides for younger children. A little further on, you'll find the picnic area.

Perhaps, between thrills, you'd like to stop and visit the Automata Museum (some of its models and automata date back to 1880), or go into the Marionetarium, a small theater where puppet shows are performed.

For thrill-seekers, some of the most highly recommended attractions include: Hotel Krueger (one of the park's best attractions), the adult and children's bumper cars, Interactibi (a virtual reality experience), the Gold Mine (the park's only water ride), and the world-famous Diávolo. These are giant flying chairs that will have you soaring above Barcelona. Anyone with a fear of heights should definitely avoid it.

How to get to Tibidabo

Getting to the park can be an attraction in itself. Of course, you can drive (there's a parking lot at the top), but you might prefer taking the Cuca de Llum funicular (light worm), the fastest, most comfortable, and most sustainable way to reach the mountain. If you choose this option, you should know that you'll first need to take a shuttle bus. There are two different stops in Barcelona: Vall d'Hebron and Plaça Kennedy.
